Example 4: Portal Frame & Overhead Crane

The client wished to extend their facilities by addition of a portal framed shed.
The frame was designed to provide support to a 5 tonne overhead crane.

• The portal frame and overhead crane both spanned 18 metres.

• We designed and detailed the whole unit including all steel joints and foundations.

• The structural steel was designed to carry 2 fully loaded 5 tonne cranes simultaneously.
